Yoga Class Descriptions
Not all Yoga is the same, just like not all bodies are the same. Find the class thats right You!
Gentle Yoga
“Gentle Yoga” is a softer, nurturing, slow-paced, well-supported and relaxing practice. This class will incorporate all aspects of who we are energetically and physically, through different breathing techniques, intention setting, carefully orchestrated movements, and well-measured full body stretches.
We will also be incorporating some “Yin” style asanas (poses) Yin yoga is a quiet contemplative practice that works deeply into our body with passive, longer-held poses. Targeting the deepest tissues of the body, our connective tissues - ligaments, joints, bones, and the deep fascia energy networks of the body - rather than the muscles (which are the physical focus of Yang yoga practices).
Energetically, Yin yoga improves the energy flow, enhancing the flow of chi in the organs. To be healthy, we need healthy organs as well as healthy muscles. Yin yoga also offers wonderful emotional and mental health benefits.
Power Yoga
“Power Yoga” class is a fitness-based vinyasa practice.As a type of Ashtanga Yoga, it has many of the same qualities and benefits, including building internal heat, increased stamina, strength, and flexibility, as well as stress reduction. In this type of yoga, teachers design their own sequences, while students synchronize their breath with their movement. All levels of yoga practice are welcome as any pose can be modified to fit your goals for the class.In the future she will be adding a “Barre Fitness Class” Barre class is a low impact workout inspired by ballet, yoga and pilates that focuses on high repetitions and small isometric movements. Barre classes focus on developing strength and flexibility in your whole body.
Yin Yang Yoga
" Yin/Yang Yoga" is geared toward all levels and ages. Initially called “Daoist” yoga this style of yoga targets the deep connective tissues of the body (vs. the superficial tissues) and fascia that covers the body. Many of the postures focus on areas that encompass a joint (hips, sacrum, spine).This Daoist (Yin) yoga is to help regulate the flow of energy in the body. While the “Yang” portion of class will be more active and get the blood flowing and engage the muscles and core.
Slow Flow
"Slow Flow" is a class Great for beginners as it is informal, fun and relaxing with functional intentions and ability to adapt for all. It’s essentially Yin Yoga with some slow Yang flows, therapeutic for the body by stretching the deep tissues allowing flexibility and calming of the mind and soul.
Laughter Yoga
"Laughter Yoga" is exactly what it sounds like,Pure joy and fun! During this class Jean will introduce different scenarios that get your mind creating different styles of laughter. Laughing is the body's natural way to boost endorphins lower cortisol and increase blood flow. It's a great way to lower stress and feel good. This isn't a typical yoga class, so there are no asanas or poses. Come as you are, but you will leave a different person!
Beginner yoga is a gentle introduction to the practice of yoga, designed for those new to it. It focuses on foundational postures, breathing techniques, and relaxation methods, helping to build strength, flexibility, and mindfulness. Chair yoga is a modified form of yoga that can be practiced while seated in a chair or using a chair for support. It is designed to make yoga accessible to those with limited mobility flexibility, allowing participants to experience the benefits of yoga without the need to get on the floor. Chair yoga can improve strength, flexibility, and balance, while also promoting relaxation and mindfulness. It's a great way for individuals of all ages and fitness levels to incorporate movement and stretching into their daily routine.
